POLO POLO POLO POLO!

Damn what a night.

Tonight's grass game was one of the funnest I have been to yet. The group of guys were killing it!

Where do I start? As usual Chuck was slaying the dragon, but I must say I had his number a few times...I am coming to get you up chuck. Dan and Stefano were at there usual best, these guys are some of the best all rounders out there. These guys have awesome defense and great handling skills.

Earl and I had a few run in's with each other tonight but were harmless, just some good ol' Polo. Todd had some amazing game ending goals just when they were needed the most, and Joe was up too his usual ninja self. That guy will come out of no where and take the ball down field before you even realized you were still on a bike.

Day after tomorrow is coming up! HARDCOURT THURSDAY!!!!!!!!

My favorite time of the year. I am not sure if there will be a big showing but regardless it is always a blast.

I noticed the Hardcourt is really helping my grass game in ways I didnt think it would. Hardcourt makes you see the court and diagnose the best play, tonight I noticed that transfering over to the grass. I have to thank Colin from PC for that though he has really helped me and I think the rest of us out on a few tricks to help play the game harder and smarter.

I hope to see some new faces out on Thursday, it is always a good time.

let's get grassy

Sorry for the late post today.

Grass tonight! 7:30 Liberty Park central field (north side of the pond). I think the East side of the road is still closed you will need to park on the West side and ride over.

Like I have always said....be there or be stupid.

3,2,1 POLO!

Tourney time

Well it looks like I am all in now ladies and gents. July 10th Glenwood Springs, CO grass polo tournament.

Tourney Format- Round Robin starting at 10AM to 2PM with a break till 6PM with the Bracket play till 10 under the lights.

Polo “Pill” used – is the small soccer size

Round Robin is games to 3 win by 2 and Bracket play is games to 5 win by 2 as I understand it.

Goals are alleged to be 5’ wide with goalies allowed.

Camping is available at host houses or local camp area, don’t know what the motel scene is like.

It appears to be a 6 hour drive from Salt Lake.

Teams allowed in the tourney are 9 and we have a spot saved for us, team size is 4 on the field and one alternate (if available) if there is enough interest for two teams from our club, they said they would allow the cap number to change.

There is a $15 entry fee per team.

It's go time fools! Time to start working on some upper body and core, and if possible watch what I eat a little better...and maybe what I drink HA!

If anyone else may be interested let's get together and talk about it.

Great games tonight!

Smaller group this time Colin+Dan+Stefano+Chuck+me= a lethal dose of Polo. We got in about 3 hours tonight of 3 on 2.

Chuck was utilizing the scoop shot to the fullest. We were getting better at passing at setting up goals rather than the free for all that sometimes comes about. I learned that a 31" mallet maybe a better shot when I am by myself but does not bode too well in game situations I need to re adjust and make it a few inches longer.

We need some more players, if you read this every once in a while and feel like it might be fun to come out and play...DO! One of the greatest games I have ever played. Polo utilizes so many different aspects of cycling so if you feel like your roadie compatriots will make fun of you for swinging a mallet screw em this game is not just for fixie hipsters.

3,2,1 POLO!!!!!!!!!!!

Hardcourt

My favorite day of the week is upon us.

Hardcourt Thursday's!!!!!!!

Liberty Park, 8:00 P.M. Handball arena.

There should be a few of us there around 7:30-7:45 warming up and doing a little practice if you get bored or want to brush up on your skills (I need to quite desperately)

Be there or be stupid.

Tuesday grass

Hey everyone!

Tonight Tuesday 6/15/10 7:30 grassy match.

Liberty Park central grass (same as always). Parking is closed on the 700 east side so you will want to go find a spot on the west side of the park and ride over.

Hopefully the smell isn't to bad.

it's the begining of the apocolypse

Well it looks like polo is off for the day, sorry for all the different information. Oil spills and rain have killed both venues I really didn't think that I would ever say both of those reasons to have to cancel Polo.

I will ride around town to try and find some other venues so we can try and prevent this in the future. If anyone feels like cruising the city and do a little shooting practice drop me a line (801) 558-6694 I will be heading out around 3.

Venue change

Due to nasty weather and slick court conditions up in PC we are going to change the venue to Liberty Park.

1:00 P.M. Liberty Park handball arena.

POLO!

Sunday bloody sunday killin it in the great high west.

Yes what you see above is what you think it is....Outdoor inline hockey rink. Full walls, shot net, and no weeds! Let see how long we can make it before we get kicked out.

Sunday 1:00 P.M. 5715 trailside drive Park City Utah

*CORRECTION*
The easiest way to get there is to go past Kimball junction and take next exit onto Hwy 40 towards Heber. Then, take the first exit off of 40 which is Sliver Summit and make a right. You drive down Sliver Summit about 1 mile and you hit a stop sign, go straight at the stop sign and you're in the parking lot for the outdoor rink.

Defiantly beer will be there and we will see if the BBQ will follow suit.

Bike Polo

What a blast this game is.

Tonight we played 4 hours of Hardcourt Polo. We started right around 8 and really didn't stop until 12.

Dan and Stefano, the grassy veterens, were right on point like always. Colin and Eric showed up with the Trimmers and Leaf Blowers so we could clean the rest of the court up and guys I really cant thank you enough for that. These guys show after all day of cleaning up those high elevation PC yards and than come down and kill it on the Court. Mark had some great sleeper steals, walks them down the court and put's it in the ne.t You always count on Colin for those death sprints down to the goal...where he will make one every once in a while.

We had some new guys...well new to the SLC crews. Chase, Gage, And Tyler came down from Ogden and put on quite a show. When you play with these guys in O town you have to prepare for long fast sprints down the goal(Long narrow parking garage), so when they came to play at Liberty I thought they might be off there game a bit because of the tighter court but I couldn't have been more off on that assumption. Gage, who is running it fixed and no brakes, can really hold onto the ball and was working the court with Dan passing back and forth. I hope to play more with these fellas.

So, Saturday trying to get people together for some Polo up in PC. They have a nice inline hockey rink...high walls, curved corners, shot nets....boo ya.

We should have it figure out on Friday and I will lay down the specifics. If you are interested let me know. Honestly the more the gooder, I am thinking some beers will be up there and thinking about a BBQ in the mix. If we are going to do this it must be done right.

This is a great video of the Danish National Championships. There is some great play on this, good handling and hard aggressive Polo.

Awesome play at 0:25 Where a player on the Copenhagen Guns (green jersey) passes to him self and takes a great shot. Later in the clip there are some great shots, passes, takeaways, just some good polo.

This gets me excited for Thursday Hardcourt. Liberty Park, handball arena 8:00 P.M.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Awesome games tonight!

We started around 8:00, 5 VS 5 all night. I had a few good spills one mechanical and one a bad foul on my part, well lesson learned on that...Sorry Chuck.

These guys out here know how to play some Polo.

Cant wait for Thursday Hardcourt. Same as usual Liberty Park Handball Arena 8-8:30 start time.

polo penny

That is one mean mallet that dude has.

Tuesday Grassy match!

It's on for a good one tonight!

Liberty Park 7:30 center feild.
